Affirming Statements

Land Acknowledgement

Women’s Health Consultants Minneapolis sits within the traditional homelands of the Dakota people. Minnesota comes from the Dakota name for this region, Mni Sota Makoce, which loosely translates to the land where the waters reflect the skies. It is important to acknowledge the peoples on whose land we live, learn and work, as we seek to improve and strengthen our relations with our tribal nations. We also acknowledge that words are not enough. We must ensure that our institution provides support, resources, and programs that increase access for all.

Antiracism Statement

Women's Health Consultants is committed to achieving equity in health care provision and to minimizing disparities for marginalized people and people of color. We are aware of the concerning data around health disparities, particularly in maternal health. We seek to understand the fear and distrust that these disparities have created. We are working to improve ourselves, our practice and the systems that have created these problems and inequities. We believe that outstanding and equitable care looks like taking time, listening, hearing and seeking to understand our patients' concerns and working with our patients to make the best decisions together. We know that we will never be perfect, but we can always do better. We welcome your feedback, your questions and your concerns.

Gendered Language

At Women's Health Consultants, we proudly support the health and well-being of all patients regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity and expression. We understand the unique needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) individuals, and strive to ensure they receive quality, inclusive, and culturally competent care. We recognize that there is no universal experience of reproductive health, pregnancy, and birth. Please note that, although our group's name and the content on this website may contain gendered language (for example: "women", "mother", "maternal"), we are committed to compassionate care for all of our patients, regardless of their gender identity, and we will do our best to use the pronouns, names, and terminology preferred by each of our individual patients.
