“As the daughter of physicians I grew up around medicine so probably shouldn’t have been so surprised to end up one myself. Yet, I took the roundabout path; first obtaining a BA in history from Duke (Go Devils!), a brief stint in marketing in Los Angeles and then a Masters in Nutrition in New York before realizing that I was always meant to be a physician. My nutrition degree sparked my interest in women’s health and this was confirmed during my medical school rotation through OB/GYN where I happily braved a snow storm to deliver my first baby and have never looked back.
My love of obstetrics in particular is what led me to my current role as an OB hospitalist, first in Northern California and now here in the Minneapolis Area where my husband was born and raised.
Elizabeth DeWees MD MS
I am particularly interested in health equity, complex obstetrics and ensuring that every patient feels heard and knows they are the most important member of their health care team. I strongly believe no two patients are the same and each patient deserves to be treated as a unique individual. I strive to provide patients with the most up to date information, awareness of any and all options available for treatment and to ensure they feel their decisions and bodies are respected while supporting them through their inpatient experience.
When I am not in the hospital, I can be found doing Pilates reformer, getting outside as much as possible no matter what the weather and spending time with my husband and 3 spirited children. I am thrilled to have joined WHC and to be able to practice evidence based, thoughtful medicine in a world class institution. ”
